If your child has a sibling currently studying in that primary school, or a parent working in that primary school, the child is in Category (A) and the school will admit them — no points involved. This category takes up about 30% of a school's P1 places. 如你的子女有兄弟姊妹正於該小學就讀，或父或母於該小學工作，即屬甲類，該校必定取錄，完全無須計分。此類別約佔該校小一學位的 30%。

The calculator below is for Category (B), which is where everyone else competes. Schools must set aside at least 20% of P1 places for it. 以下計分器適用於乙類，即其他所有申請人競爭的部分。學校須預留不少於 20% 小一學位予此類別。

⚠️ Ask the school directly how it defines "same religious affiliation" and "a member of the same organisation" before you submit the form — the EDB advises this, and schools differ. ⚠️ 遞交申請表之前，請直接向學校查詢「相同宗教信仰」及「主辦社團成員」的定義。教育局特別提醒，各校的界定方式有別。

Nearly every applicant qualifies here, which is why most realistic totals start at 10. 絕大部分申請人均符合此項，因此大多數實際分數均由 10 分起計。

Points do not guarantee a place. If more children share your score than the school has places left, the school cannot choose between them on merit — allocation falls to the random number issued by the EDB. 分數高並不等於必定獲派學位。如同分人數多於餘下學位，學校不得自行挑選，最終須按教育局發出的電腦隨機編號決定。
No tests, no interviews. Schools must not test or interview applicant children at the discretionary places stage. 不設測驗、不設面試。在自行分配學位階段，學校不得為申請兒童安排任何測驗或面試。
One school only. At this stage you may apply to only ONE government or aided primary school — but it is not restricted by your school net. 只可申請一間。此階段只可向一間官立或資助小學遞交申請，但不受所屬校網限制。
Every claimed relationship must be backed by documents, and points are awarded only after the school verifies them. 所有申報的關係均須提交文件證明，經學校核實後方會計分。
